Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Re: About 889,000 people have 'Liked' - I never knew the GD community could be so ungrateful.

Thank you, boltman, I appreciate it.

However, I'm actually quite disappointed at the response I've received since posting this thread yesterday. I have only gained 10 "Likes", when I imagine there are several hundred, even thousand, perusing this forum daily. This is the "thanks" I get? I've been working extra hard, night and day, for the last few years to bring you guys only the finest matrixes, and you can't even show an ounce of appreciation for my labors when I give a shout out here for some love.

Now I have a wife who thinks I've gone crazy for how much time I spend at the HT work station, and our relationship has suffered as a result. She says I'm not concerned about the "family". Imagine how hard that has been for me as I'm sitting in the living room and syncing these things week after week?...Oh, so "I don't have time to even do the dishes" - big fucking deal! It's not like I ever tell her she needs to do the dishes or cook or clean or anything. I hit the bathroom harder than her anyway when it comes time to clean, believe me. That bathroom STAYS clean because of the time I put into it...And - I cook awesome and tasty meals.

Then there's the work life which has taken a major setback. Yeah, maybe I have sacrificed "real" work time for the sake of making Hunter's Trix - but that's what has been important to me, for good or ill, and what I love doing, so get off my ass if I'm at least able to pay the goddamn bills every month through some act of divine grace...And, it has been keeping me off drugs, so that's a major plus.

Anyway, I guess you all have gathered how angry this has made me; and after looking at the "problem" here, I'm thinking that doing these matrixes is creating more havoc than good in my life - and apparently not enough good for your all's lives since you have such little decency to even "Like" a Facebook page for music that you obviously have been streaming in large amounts and downloading. I thought this community was different, or at least I had better hopes for it.

Since I can see most people here prefer to take and not give back by any means, or show support, I see that my efforts have truly not been appreciated here, or at least not enough it appears. For the reasons stated above, I'm quitting matrixing after I finish this '76 Auditorium run I've been working on - 6/28/76 just went up today, BTW.

Anyway, thank you to the 10 people who cared enough to show some level of thanks or appreciation - especially when I'm ASKING for a little support. What is so difficult about clicking "Like" on the Hunter's Trix Facebook page when you use Facebook almost every hour of the day??? That is truly baffling to me, especially if you have been listening to Hunter's Trix.

ummmmm, not sure what me marking, or not marking, "Like" on Facebook page really constitutes.

See, you know how much I appreciate your work and have said so repeatedly. But please know that I am NOT, nor will I be, a Facebook person. I prefer direct contact with people and have worked very hard to maintain those relationships that matter to me. I hope you don't take the fact that I haven't marked your page with a "Like" as some kind of dis, I just don't equate it with a true measurement of appreciation or respect which I feel I've expressed on more than one occasion here.

EDIT: Please tell me that the ocean of Deadness is not that shallow

Exactly SDH.
I don't facebook or my space or any of those things and have no intention of doing so.
I have praised Hunter's work on numerous threads here.
I truly appreciate what he does and have said so here, as have many others. Not really sure how me liking his stuff on facebook somehow makes me more appreciative, or not doing so makes me less appreciative.

SDH, thanks for all the love you have shared.

My issue has not been with non-Facebook users, so you're all good in my non-Face book. But for folk who actively use Facebook, listen to Hunter's Trix, but can't take the time to simply "Like" the Hunter's Trix Facebook page is disconcerting to me and seemingly antithetical to the active kindness that the GD community should embody.

I'm hoping the latest release may inspire some folk to "Like" Hunter's Trix:

If it means anything, I was one of the first dozen or so people who "liked" the page the day you made it (I think, I may be off by a day). For which I'm sure you're sorry now, as I'm always posting on there pestering you about stuff.

For my own amusement I tried synching up a Ratdog sbd I have from '01 or '02 with the AUD on here, I couldn't even get 30 seconds of it right. Made me really appreciate the people who have the patience to do it.

I admire your shiny B-room and abstinence (out of desire or necessity).
But I hate Fb. I am no one's friend. I have never been to that land unless I was directed to by a search engine, almost exclusively to check out a music vids.
My wife has 500 or so, but I don't know what that means. She did say 900 (which is what I thought she said when I first asked her) would be "excessive".
I will listen to a Matrix though. Any suggestions?

You're welcome. Not sure why there is a seeming lack of support. Perhaps folks don't realize how important it is to you. Hopefully they will now!

I enjoy and appreciate your work, and the work of all who continue to "keep the Dead alive" (not sure if the pun is intended or not). We are the recipients of what you and many others do as a "labor of love", unpaid and at great expense, both financially and personally.

Perhaps the forum is simply a bunch of grumpy old men (apologies to ring and Althea)!

True. Any guy who cleans the bathroom would definitely have more than 680 Facebook friends.

Not to be snarky ... I mean, heck, that's part of why I don't do Facebook. I think I'd be all worried about my Numbers. "Oh no, I only have 30 friends, and my husband has 267!" (Or 680-plus, all women, if he'd mention something about cleaning bathrooms.)

What the kids do is friend everyone they ever went to school with, ever. My son has gone to a bunch of different schools and some of his Facebook "friends" are kids he went to preschool with. (Who the other 500 girls are, I don't know; and I'm not going to know, because when he found out I was looking at it he made it private ...)

My husband does Facebook, and we've gotten back in touch with folks through his page. Just talked to someone last night, in fact, who I haven't seen or known anything about in 15 years or so, and that was great! So I get why it can be a good thing. But ... I dunno, not my thing. Maybe someday. My going on Facebook will be a sign it's officially So Over!

Facebook is huge over here, though. There was an article some time ago in the Washington Post about the former Maoist guerillas in the cantonments, and it mentioned the Maoists updating their Facebook pages. That was too funny.

It also mentioned them listening to rap. Which was dismaying. So if I do happen to go to the Maoist cantonments, I'll make sure to get them to friend Hunter's Trix (and listen to some). It will be doing both him and them a great favor.

I know i kept on thinking show me a guy that is good at cleaning bathrooms and i'll show you guy who doesn't have marital problems.

I joined FB for the sole purpose of spying on my teenage son. Just making sure he doesn't post something that could get him in trouble. He understands. I have 9 friends at FB; two live in the same house as i do and one lives next door. I have never posted anything there and have no intentions of doing so anytime soon.

Hey, with 3 young boys, I clean the bathroom. Sometimes twice a day. Though they are beginning to be 'forced' to clean it now, so I suppose it will be 7 years before I clean it again. Outside of my supervisory capacity, of course.

LOL, well, in our house, when we finally got a big enough house that we could have SEPARATE bathrooms, it did wonders for our marriage. I don't care about what goes on in the mens' bathroom, they can be cavemen in there if they want, I don't even look in there.

Harrumph... tell us how you REALLY feel. You can vent here among family.

Well, I'm one of those "old geezers" on FB and "liked" your page immediately. Don't mistake the sarcasm and tomfoolery in this forum for disdain and unappreciativeness - anyone engaged in your pursuit gets my appreciation.

BTW - I'm the bathroom cleaner and grocery shopper in our house. Those things don't win you any medals, or FB friends for that matter. Don't know that I want hundreds of FB friends - you never know what endless drivel they might persist in posting.

Ok, I "liked" your page. I'm not sure if your rant was really serious or not, but if I were you, I wouldn't take offense! This is just not a Facebook crowd, most of us are geezers. Too old to learn new tricks.
